ROWE A ONE-NIGHT ROBIN
POOLE second-string Anders Rowe will switch sides for one night only when he represents Swindon in Wednesday’s special challenge match at Wimborne Road.
Rowe was a previous Robins mascot and was lined up to race for the club in 2020 before the league season was cancelled by the pandemic.
He will now race for the Select side on Wednesday with former Swindon asset Stefan Nielsen also coming in, whilst Poole will hand an outing to Australian Keynan Rew.
Pirates promoter Danny Ford said: “We were keen that the Swindon Select side had connections to their club as much as possible, with either former riders or assets representing them.
“However, that was becoming a little bit difficult, as we also wanted to maintain some balance in strength between the two sides, and to be honest Anders fitted in neatly to the middle order of their side, so we agreed to allow the Robins to use him, as he should have ridden for them in 2020 had things gone to plan.
“That also gave us the opportunity to cover the void left by Anders by booking Keynan, a rider that we came very close to signing over the winter, even before he was snapped up by Premiership club Ipswich.
“This lad has a considerable amount of talent and I really believe the Poole fans will enjoy seeing him in action and I know he is keen to put on a good show.”
