REMEMBERING NIGEL

ONE year ago today we received the devastating news of the loss of our friend and colleague Nigel Pearson.

Nigel was known and respected throughout the speedway, darts and football world as a multi-skilled broadcaster and writer, and quite rightly held the unofficial title of the ‘voice of speedway.’

So many domestic and World Championship races were brought to life by his commentary, and even one year on it’s impossible not to feel some emotion when these races appear on social media.

But aside from being hugely successful at what he did for a living, Nigel was also a dedicated family man, and our thoughts remain with Kerrie, Liam, Jake and Sarah and their friends and relatives.

Nigel made an outstanding contribution to speedway and had a massive influence on everyone who was fortunate enough to know him personally.

On what is naturally a sad anniversary, and a time for reflection, please take ten minutes today to view the tribute video below, which was shown following Nigel’s funeral.

It serves as a fitting tribute to one of the sport’s greatest-ever ambassadors, who was 100 per cent passionate and committed to everything he was involved in, and most of all was quite simply a top man.

Rest in peace, Nige.
