PREVIEW: ‘THANK YOU NHS’ TROPHY

WOLVERHAMPTON will open their doors to speedway for the first time in over 500 days tonight (Monday) – with a restricted attendance.

The club are hosting an individual event thanking the NHS for their work during the pandemic with every member of the 2021 side in action along with Chris Harris, Michael Palm Toft, Richard Lawson, Ashley Morris and Nathan Greaves.

Wolves owner Chris Van Straaten has been working overtime to make the event possible with less than 1,000 fans able to attend – and he is urging every supporter to be patient and understanding in the new situation.

Van Straaten said: “It will feel different at first, I’m sure about that. It may take a little longer to get into the stadium and there are bound to be teething troubles, but we’ll get there.

“It may need a bit of patience, but when the tapes go up on that first race it’s going to be a pretty special feeling, I’m certain of that.”

LINE-UP: (Not in riding order) Rory Schlein, Sam Masters, Nick Morris, Ryan Douglas, Luke Becker, Broc Nichol, Tom Bacon, Richard Lawson, Chris Harris, Ashley Morris, Michael Palm Toft, Nathan Greaves.
