PREVIEW: POOLE v SWINDON ROBINS SELECT (Ch)
POOLE renew rivalries with Swindon when they host a Robins Select side in a special challenge match at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).
The two clubs fought out many memorable duels in the top-flight, with Swindon winning the Elite League Grand Final in 2012, before the Pirates turned the tables in the semi-finals one year later – whilst the Robins won a last-four clash in 2017.
Home No.1 Steve Worrall has been ruled out due to illness with Ryan Douglas coming in to guest, whilst Stefan Nielsen misses out for the Robins after two crashes in recent meetings, and Alfie Bowtell replaces him.
Stand-in Pirates captain Kyle Newman said: “I think it is good to have a rivalry, it’s good for the fans, the sponsors, the club to have a local team where you can have some banter with. Everyone loves that.
“But this meeting is not quite so much about that. It’s more to put the Swindon logo back in people’s faces. It’s good to have them back on track.”
POOLE: Ryan Douglas, Keynan Rew, Ben Cook, Zach Cook, Richard Lawson, Kyle Newman, Adam Roynon.
SWINDON ROBINS SELECT: Jason Doyle, Anders Rowe, Justin Sedgmen, Alfie Bowtell, Nick Morris, Jack Smith, Sam Hagon.
