PREVIEW: POOLE v PLYMOUTH (CAB DIRECT CHAMP)

POOLE have top spot in the Cab Direct Championship in their sights when they host Plymouth at Wimborne Road tonight (Wednesday).

The Pirates currently sit third with matches in hand on the teams above them, and victory over the Gladiators by more than 14 points will take them above leaders Oxford.

The home side are at full strength with reserve Vinnie Foord returning after a wrist injury, whilst the visitors bring in Drew Kemp to guest for Dan Thompson who suffered a dislocated shoulder in the SON2 at Belle Vue last week.

Poole promoter Dan Ford said: “A really positive result against Plymouth will be most welcomed, but we know that we are going to have to be on it from the very first green light and be a little more consistent throughout the team than we were against Edinburgh in our last match.

“Ideally I would like to see something similar to the score we achieved when Plymouth were last in town.

“On that occasion, in the BSN Series, we won by 26 points, but of course they lost Nico (Covatti) after two rides on his injury comeback that night and he has had more time in the saddle since, whilst you also have to believe that Kyle (Newman) won’t have such a tough night as he did in that meeting when he only scored one point.

“We simply cannot take anything for granted, but we are absolutely determined to send the Gladiators back to Devon disappointed.”

POOLE: Richard Lawson, Tobias Thomsen, Ben Cook, Zach Cook, Tom Brennan, Sam Hagon, Vinnie Foord.
PLYMOUTH: Nico Covatti, Alfie Bowtell, Drew Kemp, Kyle Newman, Ben Barker, Joe Thompson, Jacob Hook.
SCB Referee: Paul Carrington
