PREVIEW: OXFORD v SWINDON ROBINS SELECT (Ch)

OXFORD expect the biggest crowd of their new era when they host a Swindon Robins Select side at Cowley tonight (Wednesday).

The special challenge match was postponed on its original date three weeks ago but Robins legend Jason Doyle was quick to sign up for the revised date, and he is joined by fellow 2019 double winner Adam Ellis, in a side managed by Alun Rossiter.

The two clubs enjoyed a healthy local rivalry until the Cheetahs’ original closure in 2007, and by the time of their return last year the Robins were no longer racing at Blunsdon.

Oxford boss Peter Schroeck said: “There’s no such thing as a friendly between Oxford and Swindon. Racing will be fast and furious, handlebar to handlebar with no inch given.

“It’s been a stop-start beginning to our season, but the weather has finally relented and conditions for racing will be perfect. The Robins have put together a strong team so this will by no means be an easy fixture for us.

“We will support our competitors in any way possible to contribute towards a bright future for our sport. We hope Robins fans turn out in force so they can show the world just how much Swindon needs speedway.”

OXFORD: Sam Masters, Cameron Heeps, Scott Nicholls, Jordan Jenkins, Lewis Kerr, Henry Atkins, Luke Killeen.
SWINDON: Jason Doyle, Max Clegg, Adam Ellis, Dan Thompson, Chris Harris, Jack Smith, Sam Hagon.
