PREVIEW: CHARLES WRIGHT TESTIMONIAL

REDCAR captain Charles Wright stages his Testimonial Meeting at the ECCO Arena today (Sunday, 3pm) with a strong line-up in place for the individual event.

Wright is heading into his seventh season with the Bears and his overall career highlights include the British Championship title in 2019 and three domestic league victories – twice with Somerset at Championship level (2013 and 2016), and the Premiership crown with Belle Vue in 2022.

Sunday’s line-up includes Grand Prix stars Fredrik Lindgren and Dan Bewley along with Australian aces Brady Kurtz and Jaimon Lidsey, and two other British Champions in Danny King and Chris Harris.

Wright said: “I don’t think I could pick a winner, I don’t even think I could name three riders who will get on the podium as it’s such an open field!

“There’s a lot of good riders who know the ECCO Arena track very well such as Lewi Kerr and Danny King. There’s also a few big names who will be up there but I think there will be a few surprises as well.

“Since the end of 2023 it has been non-stop really with planning the meeting. It has taken all winter to plan it all so hopefully it will be a good day for me and my family.”
