PREVIEW: BEN FUND BONANZA, GLASGOW

GLASGOW boss Cami Brown is expecting a “breathtaking” start to the Ashfield season with the Ben Fund Bonanza today (Saturday, 6pm).

The annual fund-raising event once again features a strong line-up and home fans have plenty of interest with five of their riders taking part.

Tigers skipper Chris Harris will be amongst the favourites along with team-mates Kyle Howarth and Leon Flint, with the likes of Tom Brennan, Dan Thompson and Danny King also expected to be in contention.

Brown said: “This is going to be an exciting start to the season at Ashfield. The line-up of riders will make it a very interesting event. 

“Chris probably starts the meeting as a slight favourite but I wouldn’t want to predict the outcome. It’s just destined to be a breathtaking event. Ashfield always delivers outstanding action. 

“We are expecting a big crowd and fans will be eager to see such a battling field of riders give it everything. 

“I’m also interested to see how the Glasgow boys get on. It’s vital track time before our first home team meeting on April 17.

“This is all for such a great cause. The Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund is a remarkable charity which has been helping riders for decades.”

Gates open at Ashfield at 4.30pm and the weather forecast is good. There are two late changes to the line-up with Nick Morris and Dan Gilkes replaced by Berwick newcomer Reid Battye and Redcar stand-in skipper Jason Edwards.
