MULFORD ON TOP AT IPSWICH

BELLE Vue and Redcar racer Jake Mulford was the winner of the Tiger’s Academy Open individual event at Ipswich on Thursday.

Mulford went through the card with a 15-point maximum in his qualifying races and was joined in the Final by Ben Trigger, who scored 13, whilst Cooper Rushen (12) and Vinnie Foord (12) both made it through the semi-final.

The Final was won by Mulford from the inside with Rushen and Foord completing the rostrum finishers.

The subsequent Pairs race was awarded to Trigger and Jordy Loftus based on their qualifying heat scores after Foord’s partner Senna Summers fell on the first lap of the race, with the curfew preventing a re-run.

Ipswich manager Ritchie Hawkins said: “I thought it was a really enjoyable night, and there was a decent crowd in supporting them. I know the youngsters appreciated it and I think they all got a lot out of it.

“There were some talented riders on show and with the right guidance, which hopefully we have helped with tonight with everything going on, they can use it and progress.

“I was just speaking to Jake, who was the pre-meeting favourite and the most experienced here, and he was saying how much he took from the meeting, how good it was for him and how much he has learnt.”
