LAMBERT UP TO SECOND
GREAT Britain’s Robert Lambert is up to second place in the World Championship standings after a podium finish in Saturday’s Grand Prix of Sweden.
Lambert kept up his consistent record in 2024 by taking third place at Malilla, moving him ahead of Sheffield’s Jack Holder in the title race.
Defending champion Bartosz Zmarzlik took victory after an epic duel with Leicester captain Max Fricke in the Final, and the result means the Pole has now broken the outright record for total GP wins with his 24th success.
Zmarzlik leads Lambert by 17 points after five of the eleven rounds, with Lambert one point ahead of Holder but with a ten-point advantage over fourth-placed Mikkel Michelsen.
Lambert said: “I am happy with the way the meeting has ended. I am up into second, which is a great position.
“Bartek has a bit of a lead, but we still have a few rounds to go. As long as I stay consistent, I will give it a shot.
“You don’t need to win a GP to win the whole series and become World Champion. But I am still fighting for it and my day will come.”
