KURTZ WINS AUSSIE OPENER
BELLE Vue captain Brady Kurtz made a perfect start to the New Year with victory in the opening round of the Australian Championship at Gillman.
Kurtz, who is seeking to win the title for the first time since 2016, got the better of Sheffield duo Jack and Chris Holder in the Final, whilst new Birmingham signing Keynan Rew finished fourth.
Defending champion Rohan Tungate (Oxford) and former three-time winner Max Fricke (Leicester) were both eliminated from the meeting in the semi-finals.
The victory means Kurtz has a three-point lead over both Holder brothers with the second of four rounds coming up at Mildura on Sunday, in a meeting which will be streamed live on British Speedway Network – https://watch.britishspeedway.co.uk .
