KING & MOUNTAIN JOIN BONANZA

FORMER British Champion Danny King will be aiming for his second Ben Fund Bonanza victory having been confirmed as a starter for this year’s event on March 25.

The Ipswich skipper triumphed at Scunthorpe in 2020 just prior to the pandemic shutdown and will start the fund-raising showpiece at King’s Lynn as the second-highest scorer in Bonanza history.

He said: “I’ve always tried to support it and there have not been many I’ve missed since it started. It’s always a joy to do for such a great cause.

“It’s one of the meetings I put in the diary at the beginning of each year. Riders should be supporting it because it’s an ideal time to set your bikes up and get things ready.”

King is joined in the line-up by former Stars reserve Connor Mountain, who is keen to land a Premiership spot to go alongside his place in the Cab Direct Championship with Scunthorpe.

He said: “It’s a great cause, they helped me out when I broke my back, and I am more than happy to do it. King’s Lynn is only ten minutes or so from me and I like the track there.

“I’ve only got Scunthorpe so far this season, so it is good to do these early meetings and maybe put myself in the shop window with plenty of laps. I definitely want a Premiership place as well.”
