HOLDER IS AUSSIE CHAMP

SHEFFIELD star Jack Holder clinched his first Australian Championship title in a dramatic series finale at North Brisbane on Wednesday.

Holder edged out Jason Doyle by two points by winning the meeting to end a consistent campaign on top, whilst a semi-final elimination for the Ipswich No.1 proved costly despite him winning each of the first three rounds.

New Leicester signing Max Fricke, who had taken the previous three titles, had to be content with third place on this occasion.

Holder said: “It feels amazing. I’ve worked so hard for this and spent a lot of money on bringing my good stuff back from Europe.

“I’m pretty speechless at the moment but wow, number one!”
