GRAND PRIX HEADING TO IPSWICH

IPSWICH will stage a Grand Prix for the first time in 2027 as part of a big two-day World Championship schedule in mid-August.

Next season’s calendar will see the series visit Foxhall on Saturday August 14, with the SGP2 (World Under-21) series racing at the same venue one night earlier.

Ipswich chairman Richard Coleman said: “This is a truly special moment in the history of this club as Foxhall Stadium joins the Speedway GP calendar alongside legendary venues like our sister club Wroclaw, Torun, Prague’s Marketa Stadium, Vojens Speedway Center and, of course, Warsaw’s iconic PGE Narodowy.

“Like many of these great venues and clubs, we have plenty of history too, and I’m sure staging our first FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Ipswich will rank among our greatest nights.

“For many years now, Speedway GP has been raced on the wide-open, fast tracks of central Europe.

“A true world champion should be able to perform on all surfaces and in all conditions, and there’s no doubt Foxhall will pose Speedway GP riders a completely different test compared to anything they experience on the continent.”
