FRICKE ON TOP AT ALBURY
LEICESTER No.1 Max Fricke has taken over at the top of the Australian Championship standings after winning Tuesday’s third round at Albury-Wodonga.
Fricke, who is chasing a fourth title, collected 16 of the available 19 points from the meeting to overturn a three-point series deficit to Rohan Tungate, with the Oxford man finishing fourth on the night and scoring 11 points towards his overall total, giving Fricke the advantage by two.
Ryan Douglas made it a Leicester one-two with runners-up spot on the night, with Ben Cook (Belle Vue and Poole) reaching his first Final and finishing third.
Fricke (43) and Tungate (41) are favourites to fight out the title in the last two rounds as Belle Vue’s Jaimon Lidsey (36) and Sheffield’s Jack Holder (35) both missed out on the Final despite leading the scorers from the qualifying races.
