COUNTDOWN TO GP QUALIFIER

ANTICIPATION is building at Glasgow as the Tigers prepare to once again stage a round of the FIM World Championship qualifying series on Saturday.

Ashfield hosts one of four events around Europe with a powerful line-up competing for just four places in the Grand Prix Challenge later this season.

British hopes rest with Dan Bewley, Charles Wright and Lewis Kerr – whilst Robert Lambert and Adam Ellis race in other qualifiers – and Glasgow director Peter Facenna says it’s recognition of their standing in the sport.

He said: “Naturally a lot of focus is on the football, but the eyes of the speedway world will be on Glasgow this weekend – and that is testament to the work we’re doing here to promote speedway.

“It’s a world-class field and we now have one of the best racetracks in the country. Those two elements combined should make it another night to remember at Ashfield.

“We’ve already seen the kind of spectacular action our circuit can produce this season, but when you throw in some of the names in that line-up, it’s going to be really exciting.”
