BRITS JUST MISS SGP2 SEMIS

ON Friday night at the SGP venue of Torun in Poland, Polish rider Wiktor Przyjemski was crowned the World Under 21 Champion (SGP2).

It was the conclusion of the three round series which took place over the season at Malilla in Sweden back in June and then Riga, Latvia earlier this month with the finale at Torun.

Przyjemski claimed the Championship having qualified for the final heat at the final round which gave him enough points for an uncatchable lead from his nearest rival Nazar Parnitskiy, representing Ukraine, who went onto to claim the silver medal.

The race for the bronze medal was just as close with a number of riders in contention prior to the third round, but a sensational win by Norwegian Mathias Pollestad meant that he also pipped Danish teenager Mikkel Andersen to the series’ third place finish and went onto claim the bronze medal.

Great Britain’s Leon Flint finished 10th on the night with a six point score and also 10th in the series, and Dan Thompson who only got a call-up for the Torun round as a late replacement for the injured Danish rider William Drejer on Wednesday morning, also scored six points and finished one place above Flint on the night in ninth position on countback
