BRITISH YOUTH REPORT
BELLE Vue hosted the second round of the 125cc classes on Sunday with a fantastic attendance of 16 riders across both the 125cc and 125cc Support classes.
The 125cc Championship class was particularly strong and the racing did not disappoint.
Reigning 125cc British Champion Lewis Hague was unlucky not to go through the heats undefeated as he fell when leading his first race, then went onto win his three remaining heats prior to taking his place in the final.
The race was on to join Hague in the Final and the qualification for this class went right down to the last heat where Oscar Berwick ended with two fantastic heat wins after picking up just one point from his first two rides, Fraser Buckle kept his nerve and won his last qualifying heat and George Climo again did just enough to pip the impressive Ella Marshall by just one point to make it through to the all important final heat.
Always fantastic racing at the National Speedway Stadium and this final heat certainly was no different, with Hague taking an early lead, but both Buckle and Climo were not going to let Hague have an easy afternoon, and over the four lap final, firstly Buckle passed Hague to take the lead, and on the last lap Climo, in his first ever 125cc Championship class meeting, rode Hague really hard coming off the second bend on lap four and manged to squeeze by, and took an impressive second place overall.
Buckle went on to win his first round of 2026 and it looks like this Championship class is going to be really competitive this season.
In the Support class three riders were making their British Youth debuts, and two of those three riders Aston Knott and Jenson Braithwaite ended up first and third respectively, with again Seb Kelly improving all the time to claim second on the day.
The next round for the 125cc class takes place at Workington on Sunday August 2 after their Championship fixture versus Berwick.
