BRENNAN SCORES SIX IN CHORZOW

GREAT Britain star Tom Brennan marked his debut in the Speedway Euro Championship with a race win at Chorzow on Saturday.

The Birmingham and Poole rider recovered from a spectacular crash in his first ride to post six points in the iconic Slaski Stadium as Latvian racer Andzejs Lebedevs claimed the overall title.

Brennan won Heat 12 in a race which also featured Belle Vue’s Norick Blodorn, and although it wasn’t enough to reach the top six on the night, it was good experience in a major European event.

Said Brennan: “It was a pretty dismal start with a crash in the first one which wasn’t ideal, and then I made a slight tweak to my set-up for my second ride but I made an absolutely dreadful start.

“But to get a race win then felt much better. There were a few different lines that you wouldn’t normally see, and the grip was really close to the inside, and that was the fastest part of the track.

“We had to regroup after the crash, it was just one of those things where I saw a gap in front of me but didn’t quite estimate how strong the grip would be. It was a pretty bad tumble but I’m okay, my right leg is a bit sore but nothing too drastic.”
