BEN FUND WELCOME FOR BEWLEY

WORKINGTON promoter Andrew Bain says the appearance of local favourite Dan Bewley will be one of the big highlights of this Sunday’s Ben Fund Bonanza.

Cumbrian ace Bewley rode for the Comets at their former Derwent Park home back in 2018 and has been a firm supporter of the sport’s revival at the nearby GT Tyres Arena, Northside, which hosts the major fund-raising event at 3pm.

Bain said: “I am particularly excited to be seeing Dan here, a local lad who is now a Grand Prix rider.

“I know him really well, he started in scrambling with my eldest son. He’s a level-headed boy with his feet on the ground, and I think he has benefited from having a man like Steve Lawson by his side.

“When you think about it, it does seem that Cumbria is a good area for breeding speedway riders, we have had some good ones over the years!”
