BEN FUND LINE-UP TAKES SHAPE
DAN Thompson will make his Ben Fund Bonanza debut on his former home track of Glasgow on Saturday March 28.
Thompson has crossed the Scottish divide to join Edinburgh as their new No.1 for this season’s Cab Direct Championship after a successful campaign at Ashfield last year.
Also named for the fund-raising event is one of the Bonanza’s highest scorers Danny King, who will be making his 12th appearance having twice previously been a winner.
Thompson said: “Aside from helping out it is a chance for the riders to have a bit of fun but in a competitive meeting to kick things off. It is better to be racing than practicing and it is good to put a show on for the fans, it is always a well-supported meeting with it being one of the first of the year the crowds normally come out.
“Obviously for me with it being at Glasgow it will be fun to be back in front of the fans and to see all the management. They were excellent to me last year so I am looking forward to going back.”
King added: “It’s such a nice buffer to have in the background knowing that you are going to be looked after if something serious happens or if you are going to be out of racing for a while, you know they (the Ben Fund) are always there.
“They have always got the riders’ backs, so that is why it is important for me personally to always support the meeting.”
