BATTLE ON FOR FIM SON2 TITLE

BRITISH Under-21 Champion Sam Hagon believes Belle Vue knowledge can play a part in Great Britain’s medal quest at the FIM Speedway of Nations 2 tonight (Friday).

Colts racer Hagon, who also rides for Leicester and Poole at senior levels, teams up with captain Leon Flint and Dan Thompson in the World Under-21 event in Manchester.

Eight nations compete over a marathon 28-race schedule with Poland chasing an incredible 11th successive overall victory at this level.

Hagon said: We can go and win it. It will be tough, but that doesn’t mean we can’t. The top three is possible.

Our top three are good, especially at Belle Vue. You have Leon and Dan, who are in good form. We will keep on pushing.

Me, Dan and Leon are all experienced around there. We all go well in Manchester. The fans can make us go well too.

You always try hard, no matter how many people are in the stands, but when you have a good crowd there, it gives you that feeling that you want to do well for GB. The feeling is always better.”

Elsewhere in the line-up, Germany can call upon the experience of Belle Vue regular Norick Blodorn as captain, whilst Keynan Rew (Ipswich) and James Pearson (Glasgow) compete for Australia.
