SCORPIONS CHASING PAIRS GOLD

SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey says he has the right men for the job in tonight’s (Friday) Championship Pairs at Oxford.

The Scorpions have never won the event but were runners up in both 2012 and 2013, and they will be represented by Ryan Douglas and Simon Lambert, the latter coming in for the originally declared Jake Allen.

Godfrey said: “Ryan is one of the very best riders in this league and he’s got another crack at some silverware at Oxford.

“Simon doesn’t mind the big occasion and he did very well in the British Final recently. He won two races in that and certainly put some of the more fancied contenders in the shade. Simon is always looking what the team needs to do to win, and that will be no different in a Pairs competition.

“I believe we have the right two men for the job in Ryan and Simon. It’s a top line-up consisting of the best riders in the Cab Direct Championship, but we’ve come close in this competition before and we’d love to go all the way to the final and then bring back the silverware.”
