PIRATES SEEK A BIG START

POOLE promoter Danny Ford is confident of a positive start for his riders as they take part in the Championship Big Weekend early next month.

The Pirates will be represented by Lewis Kerr and Zach Cook in the Pairs at Workington on April 5, before Richard Lawson joins Kerr in the CLRC individual at Scunthorpe the following day.

Ford said: “We’re really looking forward to both events, as they’ll provide valuable early-season track time for the riders involved.

“With Richard requesting to sit out the Pairs, it gives Zach a fantastic opportunity to step up and gain experience in a major event alongside Lewis, who will be making his competitive debut in Pirates colours. It’s a great pairing, and we’re excited to see how they gel.

“The following day, Richard will be back in action in the Championship League Riders’ Championship at Scunthorpe, where he’ll line up alongside Lewis.

“Both meetings will be a great way for our riders to get laps under their belts ahead of the start of our campaign, and we’re confident they’ll give a good account of themselves.

“It’s also great that our northern team manager, Havvy (Gary Havelock), will be in attendance on both nights to support the boys. Having him there will be a real boost, ensuring everything runs smoothly and giving them that extra bit of guidance as they prepare for the season ahead.”
