NIGEL PEARSON AWARD

WE are delighted to once again be honouring the memory of our great friend and colleague Nigel Pearson during the 2026 Cab Direct British Final at Belle Vue on Saturday.

We will be presenting the Nigel Pearson Award for the fifth time as we fondly remember the massive contribution Nigel made to the sport during an exceptional writing and broadcasting career.

The format of the Award remains unchanged and we want all supporters to get involved in voting for the winner.

The Award will go to the rider judged to have provided the most entertainment during the Cab Direct British Final – a meeting which Nigel always loved, and firmly championed its position on the domestic calendar.

After Heat 20 on Saturday, four candidates will be nominated for the Award, and supporters will then be able to vote in a poll on social media site X (formerly Twitter) for the night’s most entertaining rider.

The announcement of the contenders will be made at the stadium and on BSP social media channels, with the presentation to be made in the Peter Craven Suite after the Final where the top three riders in the Cab Direct British Final will be taking part in the press conference.

The roll of honour so far is: 2022 – Dan Bewley; 2023 – Chris Harris; 2024 – Tom Brennan, 2025 – Dan Bewley. Will there be a new name to add to the list?
