LUKE TOP OF THE POPS?

BRITISH Under-21 title hopeful Luke Harrison is hoping to go to the top of the speedway charts this weekend – after featuring in a music video from one of the UK’s emerging artists!

Scunthorpe singer-songwriter Will Parker was signed up to world-famous record label Capitol Records after social media clips of him singing on building sites, where he worked as a labourer, went viral.

His debut single ‘Mindless State’ was released recently, telling the story of the mental toll which can arise from a repetitive work life, and the video was shot in Scunthorpe.

That video includes footage filmed with 18-year-old Harrison, who races for the Scorpions in the Cab Direct Championship as well as top-flight Northampton, and will be one of the favourites to add to his existing British Under-19 title in the higher category at Redcar on Sunday.

Harrison said: “I just got a message from Richard Hollingsworth asking if I would be interested in being involved, and they wanted to shoot some parts around the speedway just before the start of the season.

“I thought it would be a good opportunity for myself to try something new, and also I thought it would be good to possibly promote speedway a bit more.

“It only took a few days of filming here and there, but it was pretty cool with the camera team and everything!”

Parker said: “‘Mindless State’ is a song I wrote about Scunny, growing up in a small town and watching the people around you taking different paths in life. 

“You can fall into this robotic state. You start to think it’s easier to just stay where you are instead of going after what you really want. This song is about pushing back against that – not letting your dreams fade.”

The video for ‘Mindless State’ featuring shots of Harrison at home and at the Eddie Wright Raceway is now available from all regular streaming platforms.
