KING: ONE MORE STEP?

REDCAR star Danny King wants to finally end his runners-up record – and take victory in Sunday’s Championship League Riders’ Championship.

King, who starts as one of the favourites for the prestige event at the ECCO Arena, finished second at Poole last year having also gone close to the title in both 2014 and 2019.

He said: “I think it’s going to be a fantastic meeting. The field is so strong you get the impression that it’s anyone’s to win and nobody will be making it a cakewalk with the level of competition.

“I’ll definitely be needing my gating gloves and, all being well, we can be there or thereabouts in the end.

“These events do mean a lot to us. I made the Final last year at Poole and came second for the third time, so it would be very nice to go one further and actually win this year!”
