FLINT SEES THOMPSON THREAT
FORMER British Under-21 Champion Leon Flint has pinpointed in-form Dan Thompson as a major threat for the title this year.
Flint competes in this year’s Final at his home track of Glasgow on Sunday afternoon (2pm), seeking to reclaim the crown he last won in 2022.
But reigning Under-19 Champion Thompson, who has twice finished on the rostrum in the Under-21 event himself, has made a real breakthrough with Ipswich and Plymouth this season – and Flint admits he’s been impressed.
He said: “Dan Thompson, whatever he’s done in the winter, he’s doing something right and fair play to the lad. It’s not easy what he’s been doing in the top league.
“But hopefully I can keep pushing to help make this a really good generation of British riders with the other boys.
“I also think it’s important that we help the next line of youngsters coming through.
“You see so many younger riders in the Championship now, we need to pass on our experience.”
