ELLIS DEFENDS BRITISH TITLE
SHEFFIELD star Adam Ellis defends his national title in tonight’s (Monday) Sports Insure British Final Championship at Belle Vue.
Ellis triumphed on a memorable night at the National Speedway Stadium and is now seeking to become the first back-to-back winner since Tai Woffinden, who completed a hat-trick in 2013-15.
He said: “It’s going to be a tough one but of course after winning it once, you know you can do it.
“Winning it last year does make me want to win it back-to-back but it also means there’s guys who will want to take it away from me.
“It’s a big title that everyone wants but hopefully I can go there and get the job done again.”
Former winner Craig Cook has been ruled out of the meeting due to injury, with his place taken by Connor Mountain, whilst Danyon Hume was promoted into the line-up last week.
The meeting also carries the prestigious Wild Card for the British Grand Prix at Cardiff, which will be awarded to either the British Champion, or the runner-up in the event that GP regular Dan Bewley takes the title.
