COMETS: WE HAVE A BIG CHANCE

WORKINGTON manager James Denham is confident of some Comets success over the upcoming Championship Big Weekend.

The second tier’s official 2025 schedule kicks off with a bang with two massive meetings, starting at the GT Tyres Arena (Saturday April 5) where Troy Batchelor and Tate Zischke represent the Cumbrian club in the Championship Pairs.

Denham said: “Troy’s experience and ability are unquestionable – he’s ridden at the very highest level and knows exactly what it takes to win big meetings like this.

“Tate, meanwhile, is one of the most exciting young riders in the sport right now. He’s shown immense determination to get back from his injuries last season, and he’s getting better with every lap.”

Then 24 hours later (Sunday April 6) Batchelor is expected to be amongst the contenders for the Championship League Riders’ Championship at Scunthorpe.

Denham added: “This is always a hugely competitive meeting, but if Troy carries on his form from last season he will be in with a serious shout of glory.”
