NJL SEASON REVIEW

THE 2024 Northern Junior League was completed over the weekend of the September 20/21 with the final three fixtures taking place, with West Lothian having two home fixtures against Armadale and Ashfield, and an away fixture at Redcar.

Workington had already won the League as early as August; however, this was a good season for this competition where all fixtures were completed by mid-September and the league consisted of five clubs, two clubs out of Edinburgh (Armadale and West Lothian), whilst Ashfield were based out of Glasgow with Workington and Redcar completing the League.

Each team rode at home and away once, meaning eight fixtures for all clubs and this enabled valuable extra fixtures for not only NDL riders who started the season with an average of below 5.00 but also riders who were knocking on the door of the NDL clubs and also a number of riders who were riding on 125cc motorcycles.

There was a number of standout riders within the league with Armadale’s Dayle Wood toping the averages on 11.55 from six matches, Stene Pijper also rode in six matches with an average of 10.44 and Workington’s Ben Rathbone from his five matches achieved an average of 9.60.

The top 125cc riders were Redcar’s Oliver Bovingdon who competed in three matches for an average of 11.33, Ollie Binns rode one match for both Ashfield and Workington also for an average of 11.33, with Casper Kluczniak an impressive 9.33 average from five matches for Workington, and for Armadale Lewis Hague on 8.33 and Workington’s Charlie Luckman on an 8.00

14 riders competed for all clubs over the season on 500cc motorcycles, and 13 riders on 125cc motorcycles.

Final League Table –

  1. Workington – 14 Points
  2. Armadale – 8 Points
  3. West Lothian – 8 Points
  4. Ashfield – 6 Points
  5. Redcar – 2 Points
