MDL SEASON REVIEW

THE “IN MEMORY OF DAVE EDWARDS” Invaders have taken the 2026 MDL title with an unbeaten record.

With defending champions Wolves at the bottom of the four team league kindly sponsored by Gerald Smitherman and Sherry Dack at GTS Products, the runners-up spot went to the wire at the final meeting.

Old rivals the “CREWE SPEEDWAY COLLECTION” Kings and the “STOKE SPEEDWAY SUPPORTERS CLUB” Potters met, and in a close battle the Kings defeated the Potters to claim second spot.

MDL co-ordinator Laurence Rogers was pleased that he was able to give the young emerging riders a platform to race on at Buxton.

He said: “Giving the youngsters a platform to perform on is the most important thing. These riders are aiming to impress enough to get their chance in the NDL, and we are providing that at Buxton.

“Unfortunately clashes with other events and grass track has limited some of the riders’ appearances, but those who have ridden have gained from the regular racing in a team and league environment.

“We have had some newcomers appear this year and have several reaching 15 who will be vying for team spots in 2027.

“What format the MDL will have next year is not yet known, but at Buxton we will run as many second halves for the lads as we can. It’s just a pity other tracks can’t join in as well and offer more rides for these riders.

“Congratulations to the Invaders on taking the title this year.”
