EDINBURGH set up a MAXiCAB KO Cup quarter-final clash with rivals Glasgow by completing the job of seeing off Workington in the first round.

The Monarchs had raced to an enormous 65-24 win at Armadale on Friday and followed it up with a 45-45 draw at the GT Tyres Arena the following afternoon.

They looked set to win on the day with a run of three 5-1s in four races from Heats 11 to 14, all involving the prolific Victor Palovaara.

But Troy Batchelor and guest Leon Flint salvaged a share of the spoils on the day for the Comets with a 5-1 in Heat 15.

Palovaara (15+1) and Jonatan Grahn (11+1) led the scoring for the visitors, with Batchelor collecting 13 for the hosts.
