Report
SHEFFIELD completed the regular Premiership season at the top of the table thanks to a 54-36 win over Ipswich at Owlerton.
The Tigers won ten races on the night and limited the Witches to just one heat advantage, which came in the final race of the meeting when Jason Doyle and Danny King combined for a 5-1.
Rising Star Connor Mountain impressed for the hosts with 11+2 whilst guest Sam Masters (11) and No.1 Jack Holder (10+1) were also in double figures. Doyle ended a stellar league campaign in Witches colours with 15+1 from six rides.
Sheffield boss Simon Stead said: “I hate the phrase ‘nothing fixture’ because you always want to win, and it was a nice way to sign off our regular league campaign.”
Ipswich manager Ritchie Hawkins said: “The track staff at Sheffield did an amazing job to get the meeting on, they had stock cars here last night and bad weather, and they couldn’t get on the track early because of dog racing. They did a brilliant job to get it on and the track was good. It wasn’t a great team performance, and it was a bad result.”
SHEFFIELD 54: Connor Mountain 11+2, Sam Masters 11, Jack Holder 10+1, Adam Ellis 9+3, Lewis Kerr 8+1, Justin Sedgmen 5, Kyle Howarth r/r.
IPSWICH 36: Jason Doyle 15+1, Danny King 9+1, Erik Riss 5, Lee Complin 3, Aaron Summers 2, Anders Rowe 1+1, Troy Batchelor 1.
