Report

PLYMOUTH’S late comeback saw them secure a 45-45 draw with Kent in the first Championship fixture at the Coliseum.

The Kings opened up a ten-point advantage in mid-meeting and still led by six with three heats to go, but had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Danny King, guesting for the injured Jason Crump, won Heat 15 for the Gladiators to finish with 15+1 score with skipper Bjarne Pedersen (11) supplying the match-drawing third place, split by Scott Nicholls who scored 10 for the Kings along with Tom Bacon.

Pedersen said: “It took time for the boys to get dialled into the track tonight. The track conditions were very different to the ones when we have practiced here in the wet, so I’m sure we will get used to it quickly.”

Kent boss Chris Hunt said: “All of the team contributed tonight which was pleasing and if you had offered me a draw at the start of the meeting, I would have taken it. We knew Plymouth would come back at us after our great start.”
