BELLE Vue favourite Dan Bewley raced to his second Peter Craven Memorial Trophy victory in a thrilling finale at the National Speedway Stadium.

Bewley overtook former World Champion Chris Holder midway through the six-rider Final to inflict the Sheffield man’s only defeat of the night after an outstanding display.

Double winner Brady Kurtz completed the rostrum in third with Jason Doyle, Max Fricke and Adam Ellis missing out in the Final.

The meeting went ahead despite persistent rain throughout the afternoon, and once conditions dried out there was some terrific action in Manchester, with Bewley coming through from the back in his final two qualifying rides.

Bewley, who last won the event in 2021, said: “It’s been a few years, and this is a pretty historic meeting.

“I think for all of us it’s just cool to be back racing first of all, but it’s been an awesome night and it’s pretty cool when you have a couple of good battles towards the end, that just makes it even better.

“I’ve said this a few times now but it’s always pretty cool when I ride against Chris, it’s always pretty special.

“He’s one of the riders I watch on Facebook with the old videos popping up from back in the day that got me interested in speedway.”
