Oxford Cheetahs v Workington Comets

OXFORD gained a 50-40 win over Workington in the Cab Direct Championship with the aggregate point going right down to the wire.

The Cheetahs secured victory on the night when Mitch McDiarmid won Heat 14, but the Comets still had the chance to take some reward from Cowley.

However, they required an advantage from Heat 15 and home skipper Sam Masters won the race ahead of Troy Batchelor and Antti Vuolas to secure all three points.

Masters scored 13+1, dropping his only point to the impressive Jacob Hook, whilst Luke Killeen chipped in with 11+1 at reserve.

Batchelor (11+1) and Hook (10+2) were top scorers for the Comets, who lost Vinnie Foord with a hand injury in Heat 2, and they are now likely to need wins in their last four matches as well as some favours from elsewhere if they are to snatch a play-off place.
