Report
LEICESTER Lion Cubs captain Joe Thompson won the latest event in the National League Riders Development Series on home territory on Sunday.
Thompson raced to a 15-point maximum to become the second winner of a meeting in the competition, following on from Sam Hagon at Poole in June.
Hagon and Thompson were both unbeaten before they met in Heat 15, but Hagon was disqualified after a clash with Tom Spencer, whilst Thompson completed an unbeaten display.
15-year-old William Cairns, representing Belle Vue Colts took second place in a run-off with another Leicester rider Vinnie Foord after both scored 13 points.
Thompson said: “I’m enjoying my racing at the moment and I’ve got a great team around me in the pits, which makes life much easier for me.
“It’s great to get a 15-point maximum. There was a lot of good talent here today, but I kept it going throughout the meeting and I’m really pleased.”
