Report

MILDENHALL kept their outside hopes of an NDL play-off place alive with a narrow win over Workington at West Row.

The Fen Tigers were 30-29 up after ten races when heavy rain hit the Suffolk venue and it was not possible to resume.

The Comets had led for much of the meeting but Ben Trigger and George Congreve took a 4-2 in Heat 9 to put the home side ahead, before Alfie Bowtell won what turned out to be the final race.

Bowtell (8) and Trigger (7) top scored for a solid home side, whilst Elliot Kelly starred on his old home track with 11 for a patched-up Comets side who lost captain Luke Crang after one ride with Sam McGurk having been ruled out after his crash on Saturday.

Mildenhall boss Jason Gardner said: “I’m very pleased to see us get over the line and get a win.

“To their credit, after a very difficult time for them yesterday evening (at Leicester), Workington put up a great performance and really pushed us.”
