King’s Lynn Stars v Leicester Lions

KING’S Lynn’s play-off hopes remain alive after the Stars took maximum points from their home clash with Leicester with the aggregate point decided in a Super Heat.

The hosts won the match 52-38, matching the scoreline in the Lions’ favour from the reverse fixture last week, but Chris Harris and Jan Kvech then secured what could be a crucial extra point for Lynn.

It means that if Ipswich lose at Leicester on Monday, King’s Lynn will have the opportunity to snatch the final play-off place by winning at Northampton next Thursday.

Kvech (13) and Harris (11+1) led the Stars’ scoring with Rising Star Jody Scott impressing once again on 8+2.

Ryan Douglas scored 14 from five rides for the Lions before missing out in the Super Heat, but the Lions can still clinch second place with a home win over Ipswich.

King’s Lynn manager Rob Lyon said: “I’m immensely proud of the way the boys rode tonight. That was the sort of performance we anticipated a lot more of this season with the team we put together.

“The track was in superb condition, and the boys got on with it and knew what the task in hand was. We focused on our meeting because we couldn’t control what was going on down the road.

“Fortunately for us, we put in a superb performance and Belle Vue have done us a bit of a favour by winning at Ipswich, so it’s still all to play for.”
