KENT climbed off the foot of the Championship with a hard-fought 46-43 win over high-flying Edinburgh at Central Park.
Recent signing Troy Batchelor won his first four rides to finish with 12 as the Kings overcame the loss of reserve Dan Gilkes after a crash in Heat 2.
Sam Masters piled up 16 points for the Monarchs, and his last-race 5-1 with Kye Thomson enabled the visitors to take a league point from the meeting.
Edinburgh boss John Campbell said: “Other than Sam, our big guns didn’t win enough races. But even with that we should have done better.
“We had Nathan Greaves falling in point scoring positions, Josh Pickering likewise and Kye Thomson having an engine failure at the start of Heat 7. Too many points lost.
“Kye though did have a good meeting otherwise, he looked very quick.”
