Report

POOLE reserve Paul Starke was a late call-up to the Harbour Masters Championship and raced to a 15-point maximum to win the event.

Starke, who replaced injured youngster Will Cairns, won all five of his rides to take the title with the key race coming in Heat 14 when he defeated both of his closest rivals.

That race was the clash of three unbeaten riders and with Starke finishing ahead of Vinnie Foord and Darryl Ritchings it also turned out to be the 1-2-3 overall as all three then won their final outings.

15-year-old Cooper Rushen also impressed greatly in Poole’s Development event as he finished in fourth place on 12 points.

Starke said: “There sure is some good young talent and it is good to see, knowing that there are riders coming through.

“It’s good to win tonight as I was a bit of a target I guess, but it is exciting to see the youngsters coming on.”
