Report

GLASGOW took control of their Championship KO Cup semi-final with a 53-37 win over Edinburgh at Ashfield.

The home side built up a 12-point advantage with four heat advantages in the first six races, and also finished strongly by taking a 5-1 and a 4-2 from the last two.

Craig Cook led the way with 11+1 for the Tigers and Tom Brennan added an impressive 11, whist Sam Masters scored 11+1 for the Monarchs and Kye Thomson picked up 9+1.

Brennan said: “A lot of hard work has gone into that tonight and it’s definitely been a long time coming for me.

“Every team has their ups and downs, every team can have a really good meeting and then will probably have a poor meeting, that’s the way speedway works. But I think you can now see the momentum building and that should take us all the way to the Final.”

Thomson said: “It’s not ideal – they ran away with it from the start. We tried to fight back, but for some of the boys the bikes were going nowhere.

“We’ll just need to try our best in the second leg and see what happens.”
