Report

SCUNTHORPE blasted back to form with a dominant 54-36 victory at Edinburgh on Saturday.

The Scorpions’ Cab Direct Championship title hopes took a huge hit when they lost at home to Poole the previous evening.

But they did all they could at Armadale 24 hours later, repeating the scoreline from their recent league win at the same venue.

Ryan Douglas scored 13+1 for the visitors with Michael Palm Toft adding 10 and Drew Kemp 9+2 in a strong all-round display, whilst Josh Pickering (12) and Kye Thomson (9+2) dominated the scoring for the Monarchs.

Edinburgh manager Alex Harkess said: “I hoped beforehand that we could raise our game for the play-offs, and that maybe Scunthorpe would be a little subdued after their home defeat.

“Wrong on both counts. There were some exciting moments, but our performance overall was very disappointing.”
