EDINBURGH and Redcar fought out a 45-45 draw in a thrilling Championship opener at Armadale.
The Bears went into the last race with a two-point advantage, but the Monarchs looked set to turn it around with a 5-1 only for Michael Palm Toft to split home duo Sam Masters and Richie Worrall.
The hosts had 11 heat winners with Masters (13), Worrall (11+1) and Josh Pickering (10) all in double figures, whilst Palm Toft (10+1) and Jake Allen (10) led the way for the visitors.
Edinburgh boss Alex Harkess said: “I was disappointed that we didn’t win after our top two had got into a 5-1 position in that final race.
“I don’t know if they got too close to each other, but I expected a 5-1 from these two from that position. We knew it would be a hard match.”
