GLASGOW’S Scottish derby win at Edinburgh on Friday was marred by injury to the in-form Ulrich Ostergaard.
The Tigers led 43-41 when Ostergaard went into the fence on the first bend of Heat 15, and the meeting was eventually abandoned with medical staff attending to the Dane, who was taken to hospital complaining of back pain.
Ostergaard had scored 11 points from four rides to top the Glasgow scoring, whilst Josh Pickering collected 11 for the Monarchs.
Tigers boss Cami Brown said: “I thought the team were absolutely magnificent tonight and Ulrich was the star man.
“The incident in heat 15 just shows how dangerous the sport is and puts everything into perspective. Over the piece I think we deserved to win, but we didn’t want it to happen in that manner.
“In the end I don’t care about the three points and topping the league, I just hope Ulrich is OK, and all our thoughts are with him tonight.”
Edinburgh manager Alex Harkess said: “We wish Ulrich a speedy recovery. It was a very frustrating finish to the match because with three heats to go and the scores level, I thought we had the riders to finish the job.
“But we made too many mistakes overall, and didn’t get the chance to race heat 15 in which I felt we would get an advantage.”
