Report

EDINBURGH rounded off their home NDL programme with a 54-36 win over Mildenhall to end the Fen Tigers’ slim hopes of contesting the Grand Final.

It was the Monarchs Academy’s best performance of the season, led by Max Clegg with a 14-point haul as he dropped his only point to Alfie Bowtell (13) in the final race.

Clegg was well supported by Jacob Hook (10+3), Dayle Wood (10) and Mickie Simpson (9+2) for the hosts.

Edinburgh boss Scott Wilson said: “Tonight was a great way to end our home campaign. We produced a real team performance with solid scoring right through the side, and a win or paid win for everyone.

“It’s a shame we are at the end of the season, guys like Dayle and Mickie are so dialled in around Armadale now.”

Mildenhall manager Jason Gardner said: “It was a frustrating night for sure. We knew that Edinburgh were strong especially on their home patch and going there with a weakened side ourselves really put us up against it.

“I personally feel like we have let the fans down tonight, we need to regroup very quickly for our final NDL fixture at Leicester a week today. That’s also a dress rehearsal for the KO Cup Final and that in itself will focus our minds of the remaining challenges to come.”
