Buxton Bulls v Stoke Potters Select

BUXTON defeated a Stoke Potters Select side 49-39 to gain their first victory since returning to the sport this season.

An eventful contest saw home skipper Jack Smith and the visitors’ Simon Lambert both win their opening three rides, before Smith was disqualified for exceeding the time allowance when they were due to meet in Heat 11.

And when they did clash in Heat 13, a tangle on the first bend saw both riders go down, with Lambert not taking his place in the re-run due to a shoulder injury.

Smith top-scored with 11+1 for the Bulls despite falling in Heat 15, and reserve Jack Shimelt notched 10+1, whilst Ben Whalley picked up 11 for the visitors who ended the meeting with a 5-0.

Smith said: “It was a tough meeting, but it was nice to get our first win since our return as a club.

“There were some decent performances from the lads this afternoon and we look forward to getting a few more wins under our belts.”
