Report
KING’S Lynn banished any fears of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership wooden spoon as they raced to a 46-43 win at Birmingham – their second success at Perry Barr this season.
The Stars ended a four-match losing sequence with the result, which was built around a strong start as they went nine points up inside the opening five races.
The Brummies fought back thanks largely to top two Fredrik Lindgren (12+2) and Tom Brennan (12+1), but enigmatic Polish racer Piotr Pawlicki failed to score from three rides.
Stars captain Niels-Kristian Iversen hit double figures again with 10+1, a total matched by guest Norick Blodorn, and Rising Star Anders Rowe impressed once more with nine.
Lynn boss Rob Lyon said: “It was a terrific effort from all the boys, they all played their part,” he said.
“Rider Replacement worked for us and I was really proud of them, they put a good shift in again.
“I said I didn’t want a repeat of Thursday (away to Oxford) when we were 18 down after seven and there was a different game and I was really pleased with it.”
Birmingham CEO Nigel Tolley said: “Every time it’s just a few points lately and what a run we’ve had of losing by such small margins at home, it’s unbelievable.
“Freddie did superbly, Tom did superbly – I went up to Tom and said, ‘I wish we could clone you!’
“Everybody tried their hardest, apart from one rider, mentioning no names, but we’ve just got to look to the future now.”
BIRMINGHAM 43: Fredrik Lindgren 12+2, Tom Brennan 12+1, Zach Cook 7, Wiktor Lampart 5, Michael Palm Toft 4+2, Leon Flint 3+1, Piotr Pawlicki 0.
KING’S LYNN 46: Niels-Kristian Iversen 10+1, Norick Blodorn 10+1, Anders Rowe 9, Jan Kvech 8+1, Lewis Kerr 6+1, Patryk Wojdylo 3, Benjamin Basso r/r.
