Report

REDCAR extended their incredible run at Berwick with Saturday’s 52-38 KO Cup victory being their seventh win out of their last eight visits to Shielfield Park.

Danny King (15) and Charles Wright (11+1) both scored maximums as the Bears steamed into the next round of the competition by a 40-point aggregate margin, providing all but three of the race winners in the second leg.

Guest Richard Lawson added 10+1 for the visitors, who will now face Glasgow in the quarter-finals, whilst Leon Flint notched 10 for the Bandits and reserve Connor Coles impressed with 9+2.

Berwick boss Gary Flint said: “No excuses, we have to take it on the chin after we were beaten fair and square by Redcar.

“On the positive side our reserves both performed well with Connor further enhancing his growing reputation with another fine performance.

“But obviously our top three being outscored 35-19 by the Bears made it an almost impossible task.”
